Pedro Caixinha’s Glasgow Rangers reportedly wanted to bring Heart of Midlothian winger Jamie Walker to Ibrox in the summer transfer window.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers wanted to sign Walker from Hearts on transfer deadline day.
However, that move failed to materialise, as reported by The Scottish Sun, which also claims that the 24-year-old winger is now set to sign a pre-contract with Pedro Caixinha’s side.
The Daily Record has reported that Rangers’ offer of £500,000 for the former Scotland Under-21 international was turned down by Hearts.

While referring to a similar situation between the Jam Tarts and Rangers over Paul Ritchie in 1999 which cost Tynecastle outfit £1 million, as reported by The Scottish Sun, former Hearts defender and manager Jefferies, 66, told The Daily Record: “That’s why I’m surprised Hearts didn’t just sell Jamie Walker.
“I don’t know the finances, they are seemingly in a good state, but when you’re building a new stand and trying to improve the team you need to look at ways of raising money.
“The only way I can work it out is that they see Jamie as vital to their plans to qualify for Europe but it looks like he’s going to end up at Rangers eventually.”

Pedro Caixinha’s Rangers are fifth in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with seven points from four matches, while Hearts are currently eighth in the standings with four points from as many games.
Celtic are the clear favourites for the Scottish Premiership title this season, while Rangers and Hearts will be aiming to end up in the runners-up spot, along with Aberdeen and Hibernian.
