Glasgow Rangers are reportedly expected to agree a deal to bring Jake Hastie to Ibrox this summer.

Jim Goodwin has told the Daily Record that he is delighted that Jake Hastie is heading to Rangers at the end of the season, with the Alloa boss insisting that he knew he was watching something special when the reportedly Gers-bound winger terrorised a right-back in a Championship game this season.
The Daily Record has reported Hastie is expected to complete a deal with Steven Gerrard’s side that will see him head to Ibrox on a four-year deal.
Hastie has enjoyed a remarkable season having initially left Motherwell to join Alloa on loan last summer. And Goodwin suggested that he was extremely pleased to have been involved in the youngster’s journey, which now looks set to culminate in a move to Rangers in the coming weeks.
“The modern day game is all about pace and power and Jake has that in abundance. In one of his early games for us against Dundee United at Tannadice he terrorised the right back and we knew then we had ourselves a player,” he told the Daily Record.

“At Alloa, we’re all delighted to see Jake getting his big chance to go to a massive club like Rangers,” he added. “We were delighted to have him for the five months we had him and he exceeded expectations when he went back to Motherwell from ourselves in January.”
What is perhaps so exciting about Hastie’s form since he returned to his parent club is that several of the goals that he has been scoring have not been simple finishes. He has scored a couple of screamers that have really helped put him on the map.

That ability to make something special out of nothing hints that he could prove to be a fantastic signing for Rangers this summer. Gerrard’s side are making progress, but arguably need more game-changers in their squad as they look to build on the promise that they have shown.
Hastie’s somewhat underwhelming performance against the Gers recently highlights that he still has some way to go. But it would be no surprise if the Light Blues were reflecting upon a transfer masterstroke in the coming years as he continues his development.
