Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers do not have a long-term manager in place.
Jim Duffy has written in The Scottish Sun that he believes Tony Pulis could be interested in the Rangers job.
The out-of-work Pulis sparked rumours on Sunday by admitting that Rangers are one of the “great clubs” in Great Britain.
The former West Bromwich Albion boss was sacked by the Baggies last month and his departure from The Hawthorns has prompted fans of the Ibrox club to wonder whether he would be a good fit to replace Pedro Caixinha in Glasgow.
The Gers’ farcical pursuit of Derek McInnes came to a head earlier this month when the Aberdeen manager snubbed a switch to Ibrox, meaning that Graeme Murty will remain in charge until the end of the season following a botched six-week search to replace Caixinha.
It remains to be seen whether Pulis’s praise of Rangers is an indicator of anything tangible, but BBC pundit and Scottish manager Duffy suggests it’s a sign that he would speak to owner Dave King about the long-term role.
“Linked with Rangers at the outset, the former West Brom boss was spotted on TV over the weekend extolling the virtues of the Light Blues,” he wrote in The Scottish Sun.
“What that tells me is Pulis is ready to listen to what Rangers have to say. Pulis is a man of stature, and again, that’s what Gers need at this moment.
“Pulis would be my choice, but if talks are to start they will have to begin soon.”
The Welsh manager has done excellent work at Albion, Crystal Palace and Stoke in the Premier League over the past decade and luring him to the blue half of Glasgow would be quite a coup for Rangers.
He is unlikely to employ the style of football that Brendan Rodgers does at Parkhead, but Gers supporters couldn’t care less as long as their side denies the Hoops a 10th successive Premiership title. They have six on the bounce so far.
