Here is how Tottenham Hotspur’s players rated during their 2-0 Premier League victory over North London rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham's Hugo Lloris celebrates their second goal

Hugo Lloris – Needed to think fast in order to deny Aaron Ramsey’s clever long range effort towards the end of the first half. Lloris marshalled his back line well – particularly amid Arsenal pressure during early phases of the second period. 7

Kieran Trippier – Selected in preference to England international Kyle Walker at right back. Trippier appeared to be more than a capable replacement and put forth a disciplined display up against Arsenal’s left sided duo of Kieran Gibbs and Alexis Sanchez. 7

Toby Alderweireld – The Belgium international was comfortably able to subdue Arsenal’s lone forward Olivier Giroud as part of a convincing display alongside compatriot Jan Vertonghen. Was tested a little more upon Danny Welbeck’s introduction midway through the second half. 8

Jan Vertonghen – A classy performance from Vertonghen – who almost scored after a clever turn and right-footed curled shot that required Arsenal’s Petr Cech to turn around the post in the first half, and again from a left-footed driven effort in the second period. 8

Ben Davies – Reverted to a more familiar left back berth in light of Spurs deploying a back four – but that did not prevent the Wales international from offering consistent support to Son Heung-Min in Spurs’ left sided attacks. 7

Eric Dier – An efficient, if not standout, showing from Dier – who was moved from his recent central defensive role into midfield to try and compensate for Mousa Dembele’s injury absence. 6

Victor Wanyama – A characteristically combative contribution from Spurs’ midfield anchor, who frustrated Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil with regularity – even managing to test visiting goalkeeper Petr Cech with a long range effort in the early stages of the second half. 8

Dele Alli – The usually ruthless starlet missed an excellent chance to give Spurs a 22nd minute lead by missing the target with a surprisingly poor headed attempt. Alli made up for the miss when putting Spurs ahead with a 55th minute goal that outlined another impressive showing from the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year. 8

Christian Eriksen – Despite spurning a superb chance to find the back of the net mid way through the first half, Eriksen was at his usual tempo-dictating creative self; ideally demonstrated by the midfielder’s contribution to the game’s first goal. 8

Son Heung-Min – An impressively energetic display from the Spurs winger, who was a threat to Arsenal’s back three on numerous occasions with purposeful dribbling and effective distribution throughout the encounter. Certainly one of Spurs’ most improved players this year. Replaced by Mousa Dembele for the closing stages. 9

Harry Kane – Won, and converted, a second half penalty to give Spurs’ a two-goal lead to complete a fine game in which Kane led the front line with confidence and consistent threat. 8
