Queens Park Rangers travel to Nottingham Forest in need of three points from a clash of two of the Championship’s strugglers. We preview QPR’s predicted line-up.

Queens Park Rangers manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

Despite never winning an away game at Nottingham Forest (L19, D13), Queens Park Rangers – and especially under-fire boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – will be hoping for a fourth away win of the season when they visit the City Ground.

QPR’s Nedum Onuoha and Brentford’s Josh Clarke in action

However, in their attempt to recover from back-to-back defeats – and an inconsistency that’s seen ten points from their last ten games – QPR will be without left backs Jake Bidwell and former Forest man Joel Lynch. Hasselbaink will decide whether to select Jack Robinson – who is gradually returning from a long lay off – or Finland’s Niko Hamalainen at left back.

The remainder of the defence is likely to consist of another former Forest full back, James Perch, at right back and a central defensive pair of Steven Caulker and Captain Nedum Onuoha. Goalkeeper Alex Smithies completes the back-line.

QPR's Massimo Luongo in action with Leeds United's Matt Grimes

QPR are expected to line-up with Hasselbaink’s preferred 4-5-1, with two deeper midfield players of Ariel Borysiuk and the combative Massimo Luongo behind Dutch attacking midfielder Tjaronn Chery.

Idrissa Sylla celebrates scoring the second goal for QPR

Hasselbaink looks likely to start Idrissa Sylla as centre-forward, and may opt for 19-year-old Olamide Shodipo on the left flank, with Poland international Paweł Wszołek deployed on the right.
