Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Huddersfield Town to Molineux for a potentially vital Championship encounter for the visitors.

David Wagner’s Terriers have the opportunity to secure a play-off spot with victory over Wolves and may well be boosted by a return to the match day squad for Elias Kachunga – after the forward was absent from Huddersfield’s weekend loss to Fulham due to illness.

Whilst Wagner welcomes the good news regarding Kachunga’s potential return, Wanderers boss Paul Lambert faces somewhat contrasting fortunes regarding player availability.

First choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme remains an injury absentee and has recently been joined in the treatment room by captain Danny Batth and left back Matt Doherty – with the latter substituted in the early stages of the 0-0 draw with Blackburn Rovers last time out.

Amid a selection headache in defence, Lambert is expected to deploy midfielder George Saville as a makeshift left-back – a role that the 23-year-old has previously been trusted with earlier in the season – to reflect another out-of-position full back Conor Coady on the opposite flank.

Any silver lining to Wolves’ defensive dilemma is undeniably the potential return of the talismanic Helder Costa to the line-up.

The standout Portuguese midfielder is expected to make his first appearance following a five game injury layoff and should start as part of an attacking quartet of Ben Marshall, Andreas Weimann and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.
