Here is how we expect Wolverhampton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic to line-up in their midweek Championship clash.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert may well be relishing the opportunity to facilitate a Wolves victory just days after their previous Championship fixture – the disappointing 1-0 loss to table-toppers Newcastle United.

Indeed, with Wolves placed 18th in the league table, Lambert will be hoping to secure a victory against relegation threatened Wigan in an attempt to avoid the potential of being dragged into the end of season quagmire at the bottom of the Championship.

Ahead of the Molineux encounter, Wolves are expected to make two changes to their starting XI. Jack Price’s head injury is likely to lead to a change in central midfield, in the guise of Lee Evans, and Nouha Dicko’s form form and seeming lack of confidence possibly meaning a recall for front man Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.

Despite a two-game losing streak, and the added bonus of being able to select the returning Mike Williamson, Lambert is expected to name an unchanged back four – seeing Kortney Hause remaining on the bench in preference of captain Danny Batth and Richard Stearman. The central defensive pairing being supplemented by full backs Matt Doherty and Conor Coady – and governed by goalkeeper Cark Ikeme.

It is anticipated that Dave Edwards, Andreas Weimann, Bright Enobakhare and the talismanic Helder Costa will complete the line-up, as Wolves look to arrest a poor recent record in this fixture – which has seen the Wanderers only win once in the last five league Molineux meetings between the sides.

Wigan, meanwhile, are boosted by the likely return of Reece James and Alex Gilbey, after recent injuries, and Ryan Tunnicliffe – who was ineligible to play against parent club Fulham last time out.
