Nottingham Forest player ratings after Derby loss: Defensive duo 4/10

Nottingham Forest fell to an embarrassing 3-0 Championship defeat against east Midlands rivals Derby County. Here is how their players rated.

GK: Vladimir Stojkovic (5/10) – Conceded three goals and looked unconvincing throughout. A poor showing from the 33-year-old, who failed to organise or communicate with the defence in front of him.

CB: Michael Mancienne (4/10) – A lackadasical display from the 28-year-old, who looked flustered up against Derby’s attack. Mancienne’s positioning left a lot to be desired, as did his seemingly relaxed approach to the game.

CB: Matt Mills (4/10) – Following the absence of David Vaughan and the warm-up withdrawal of Henri Lansbuty, Mills was Forest’s captain for the game. Unfortunately for Forest, the defender was unable to lead by example and put forth an awful display as part of manager Philippe Montanier’s back three.

CB: Damien Perquis (5/10) – Perquis was actually one of the better Forest performers in the first half, as the defender threw himself at a handful of Derby attacks and made some important blocks. However, Perquis’ display capitulated in the second half.

RWB: Matty Cash (5.5/10) – Youngster Cash could not be faulted for work-rate, despite the scoreline and Derby’s dominance. However, the 19-year-old struggled in possession and made little impact on the game. David Vaughan replaced Cash in the closing minutes to bring an end to the midfielder’s disappointing experience.

DM: Thoma Lam (5/10) – The Finland international looked lost in a deep lying midfield position against Derby’s Will Hughes. Deployed with the intention of protecting Forest’s central defenders, Lam failed with the task and the 22-year-old’s distribution was similarly lacking. Hooked for Hildeberto Pereira (6/10) after 70 minutes.

LWB: Eric Lichaj (4.5/10) – The American is not a natural left-wing back and always looks far more comfortable when played at right back. Lichaj experienced a torrid time up against the in-form Thomas Ince on Derby’s right flank.

CM: Pajtim Kasami (5/10) – The 24-year-old was unable to impact on the midfield battle at any stage of the encounter. A poor display with regard to Kasami’s use of the ball and his seeming inability to track Derby’s midfield runners. A day to forget for the Switzerland native.

CM: Ben Osborn (6/10) – Booked in the first half, which seemed to prevent the Forest academy graduate from impacting in the midfield engine room thereafter. Perhaps the biggest victim of Lansbury’s injury in the warm-up, as Osborn was deployed in a slightly different role and was unable to influence the game with his ability to run at the Derby defence.

CM: Mustapha Carayol (5/10) – A last minute move from the bench and into the starting line-up, following Lansbury’s injury in the warm-up, may have contributed to Carayol’s poor first half display. The 28-year-old’s showing after the break wasn’t much better – as the game in central areas passed Carayol by. Replaced by Apostolos Vellios (6/10) on the hour mark.

FW: Nicklas Bendtner (5/10) – The Denmark international’s display was typified by scoring an own goal to give Derby the platform to score two further goals and win the game. Bendtner failed to impact at the other end of the pitch, but also failed to receive any decent service or support from teammates in the final third.
