This result now makes it three defeats in a row for Mourinho’s men – a fact not lost on Manchester United’s supporters.
Manchester United were unable to push on after their equaliser and conversely found themselves on the end of a late onslaught from Watford. Goals from substitute Juan Zuniga in the 83rd minute, and a penalty in added time from Troy Deeney was more than enough.
Twitter was awash with a mix of furious and hapless Manchester United supporters, as their collection of superstars failed to meet any kind of expectation. And captain Wayne Rooney appeared to have been the subject of significant ire.

For a while now, Stan Collymore has been convinced that Rooney shouldn’t play such a dominant role – and he took to Twitter to remind us of his stance both six weeks ago and during today’s game.
It wasn’t just ex-pro Collymore who questions the England captain’s credibility as a starter.
