Manager Jurgen Klopp looks set to make two changes to his Liverpool side ahead of their Premier League hosting of Stoke City.
After their Merseyside derby victory over Everton last time out, Liverpool may well be tempted to start fit again forward Daniel Sturridge against Stoke City.
Sturridge, although not the scorer of the derby differential goal, was instrumental in Liverpool’s late rally against Everton – and his performance could see him recalled to Jurgen Klopp’s first choice XI.
Another returnee from injury, German midfielder Emre Can, is also expected to slot straight back in to the starting XI – at the expense of Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Netherlands international is the man most likely to make way for Can, considering that Jordan Henderson’s ankle has no significant damage following a Ross Barkley inspired clash at Goodison Park last week.
Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet should retain his place in the side, as Loris Karius remains out of the spotlight – and the Belgium stopper is expected to play behind a back four of Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan and stand-in left back James Milner.
In addition to Can and Henderson, the midfield trio is likely to be completed by Adam Lallana – who may be afforded more freedom in an advanced role vacated by the ongoing injury to Philippe Coutinho.
Despite scoring in four of Liverpool’s last five Premier League games, if Origi is to be replaced by Sturridge, then the England international goal-getter is likely to be supported by Roberto Firmino and derby scorer Sadio Mane.
Meanwhile, as a result of suspension, Stoke City will be without the usually influential Marko Arnautovic for their trip to Anfield. Jack Butland, Geoff Cameron, Phil Bardsley and Steven Ireland all remain absent due to injury.
