Earlier today, The Chronicle reported that Newcastle United want to sign Jetro Willems in the summer of 2021.
Willems spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Newcastle from Eintracht Frankfurt and did well before he picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury.
According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old – who can operate as a left-back and as a left wing-back – made 18 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for the Magpies, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process.
The Chronicle reported today that Newcastle remain interested in signing the Dutchman, who is out on contract at Frankfurt at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has not made a single appearance in the Bundesliga this season despite being fit, and it is hard to see him say at the club beyond the summer.

Given how well Willems played during his loan spell at Newcastle, it would make sense for the Dutchman to come back to St. James’ Park, and for the Magpies to try to get a deal done.
