It never rains but it pours for Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta has revealed that Gabriel Martinelli is set for a few months on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury in training.
Since Arsenal have come back, Granit Xhaka, Pablo Mari and Bernd Leno have already picked up serious problems.
And the talented Brazilian is the latest to be sidelined in what is swiftly looking like a curse at the Gunners – at least, that’s what some of their fans are saying.
Here’s how they reacted to the news about Martinelli:
The 18-year-old has had a phenomenal breakthrough season at Arsenal, scoring 10 goals across all competitions.
But fans of the Emirates Stadium club had been getting fed up with Arteta, who didn’t use him in either of the team’s two recent defeats – a 3-0 thumping at Manchester City and a 2-1 reverse away to Brighton.
It remains to be seen which of Arteta’s players made the tackle which led to Martinelli’s injury, and much more Arsenal fans are speculating about that on social media.
But the truth is that it doesn’t matter all too much. The Spanish boss still has to find a way to minimise the effects of losing the South American dazzler and that isn’t going to be easy at all.
