Jesus Gamez has joined Newcastle United from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Jesus Gamez has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at signing for Newcastle United.
Gamez has left Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid to join Newcastle in the summer transfer window.
As announced on the Championship club’s official website, the defender has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Magpies.
The 31-year-old defender has taken to Twitter to express his delight at joining Newcastle.

The former Spain Under-23 international right-back has also sent an emotional message to the Atletico fans on the social networking site.
While writing a long farewell letter to the Spanish club, Gamez posted on Twitter: “I did not want to take my new journey without saying goodbye to all of you. Thank you for these two years.”

During the 2015-16 season, Gamez created four chances in 10 La Liga appearances for Atletico.
The 31-year-old right-back had a pass accuracy of 75%, and a shot accuracy of eight headers, three dribbles and 14 tackles.
The former Spain Under-23 international made one appearance in the Champions League for the Madrid outfit last season. Gamez created two chances, had a pass accuracy of 81%, and won one header.
Newcastle got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and will feature in the Championship next season.
As for Atletico, they will once again be competing with Barcelona and Real Madrid for La Liga title next season.
