Newcastle United signed two new players this week.

Newcastle United signed Jacob Murphy and Javier Manquillo this week.

Murphy, 22, joined Newcastle in a £12 million deal from Norwich City, while 23-year-old Manquillo signed from Atletico Madrid on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

They are good steps in the right direction for a club who had only signed Florian Lejeune up until a few days ago and slowly but surely the Magpies fans can get excited.

Manquillo will reunite with Jesus Gamez, having played with the 32-year-old at Atletico, and the latter has sent a message on Twitter to the two new recruits.

They are promising moves by Benitez, but the Spanish manager still needs a striker.

Daryl Murphy joined Nottingham Forest on Friday in a departure which increases the need to recruit a centre-forward.

Dwight Gayle, though brilliant in the Championship last term, has a big question mark hanging over his capacity to be prolific in the Premier League, while Aleksandar Mitrovic might well end up leaving Newcastle this summer.
