Jesus Gamez has played two games for Newcastle United this season.

Newcastle United remain top of the Championship after thumping Ipswich Town 3-0 at St James’s Park on Saturday afternoon.
Two goals from Ayoze Perez – including one inside the first minute – and another from Matt Ritchie did the damage for the Magpies, who stay three points clear of Brighton and Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town in second and third spot respectively.
The 23-year-old had only netted once in nine Championship outings before his brace against the Tractor Boys on the weekend.

And Jesus Gamez, who joined Newcastle in a £1.5 million switch from Atletico Madrid in the summer, led the tributes to his fellow Spaniard on Twitter afterwards.

The 31-year-old has endured a rotten start to life in the North East as a calf injury has limited him to just one Championship game – a 19-minute cameo in the 2-0 win over Brighton back in August.
But it is a team game and Gamez’s anguish will be quelled by the fact that Rafael Benitez’s side are in fine form and, at the moment, they are certainly justifying their pre-season label as favourites for Premier League promotion.
