Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:06pm, March 18, 2022) that the club’s Director of Football Victor Orta has shocked him.
Marsch has said that when he first spoke to Orta about becoming the Leeds head coach two years ago, he was taken aback by the analysis that the Spaniard did on his teams.
The American was recently appointed as the Leeds head coach following the departure of Marcelo Bielsa.
Marsch had been in charge of the Montreal Impact, the New York Red Bulls, RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig before his move to Leeds.

The American said: “Even when Victor and I started speaking a couple of years ago, he kind of drew some comparisons between the ideals of Bielsa, the way he likes to play, some of their performances that they put together, and then showed me how it is similar to the teams that I coached. I have never seen a sports director do an analysis like that. So right way I was impressed.”

A Leeds United legend
In our view, just like Bielsa, Orta is a Leeds legend.
Yes, of course, we know how Bielsa transformed Leeds from a side that were struggling in the Championship to a team that could hold their own in the Premier League.
But, in our opinion, we have to praise Orta as well for the impact he has made at Elland Road.
Orta is very passionate about Leeds and regularly attends their games
The Spaniard has also signed some brilliant players for Leeds, such as star striker Patrick Bamford.
