Jesse Marsch has name dropped Brenden Aaronson and discussed reports linking him with a move to Leeds United. While stating that he thinks the American midfielder is a “great player”, he did not state if Leeds were keen.
Aaronson, 21, has been strongly linked with Leeds over the past few months. The Athletic reported in the January window that Leeds made two offers to sign the RedBull Salzburg man – the second totalling £20million.

Aaronson remained at Salzburg, with the Austrian club keen on keeping him around for their Champions League knockout game against Bayern Munich – which they eventually lost over two legs earlier this month.
Leeds boss Marsch was asked about summer transfers with the Whites now looking as though they are likely to remain in the Premier League after two wins from two. He name dropped Aaronson, branding him a “great player”.
“The whole talk with Brenden Aaronson, this happened before I came. I know Brenden, he’s an American, I’ve coached him; he’s a great player. But even when he came to Salzburg, Salzburg knew about him before I joined.”
Marsch on Aaronson: Leeds really need to lure American to ER
Leeds need to sign Aaronson. There are no ifs, buts or maybes. Leeds really need the USA international. Leeds need an attacking midfielder and that is why they tried to sign him in the January transfer window.
Numerous reports state that Leeds are still in the market for Aaronson this summer. Mateusz Klich turns 32 in the summer, while Rodrio’s form and injury issues have been problematic. Leeds need a younger option.
