Jesse Marsch has told Thursday’s press conference ahead of Saturday’s game against Manchester City that Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville has twisted his ankle – and will now be sidelined for the rest of the season.
Marsch is preparing his side for his eighth game in charge as Leeds manager – having picked up 11 points and gone unbeaten in his last five. Leeds lost their opening two games to Leicester City and Aston Villa.
But they have since beaten Norwich, Wolves and Watford, as well as drawing with Southampton and then Palace last time out on Monday night. Saturday hands Marsch his hardest challenge yet, Manchester City.
Summerville, 20, has been an unused sub in all of Marsch’s games – before coming on against Watford late on. He was not part of Marsch’s squad at Palace – and now, Marsch has revealed why, stating he has an injury.
The American gaffer states that Summerville picked up an injury in training prior to the Palace game and now, scans have confirmed a twisted ankle. He will be sidelined for the remaining five Premier League matches.
“Summerville picked up an injury in the last training before Palace. He twisted his ankle, he will be done for the season. That is a disappointing one,” Marsch told his press conference on Thursday, as per Leeds’ YouTube.

With Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Dan James all in the starting XI, as James continues to cover Patrick Bamford, having a winger like Summerville on the bench is key. He has been firing on all cylinders for the Under-23 side.
He recently scored a hat-trick for the 23’s in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace. Now, the Dutch winger – who cost £1.3million – will be out on the sidelines. The likes of Liam McCarron and Stuart McKinstry are expected to come in.
