Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch personally wants to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

The Sun have reported that Leeds are competing with Newcastle United for the signing of Brentford striker Toney this summer.

Leeds head coach Marsch wants to add another senior striker to his ranks so that he can play alongside Patrick Bamford in attack.

The American coach ‘sees Toney as someone who could work as a perfect partner for Patrick Bamford’, according to the report, which has added that although Brentford do not want to sell the former Newcastle striker, an offer of over £30 million could change their stand.

Could Leeds sign Ivan Toney from Brentford?

In our view, Leeds United could be able to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the summer transfer window.

Money talks, and if the Whites offered what the Bees want or will be happy with, then they will be able to secure the services of the 26-year-old striker.

Described as “a hungry, ambitious, hard-working striker” by Brentford head coach Thomas Frank on the club’s official website in August 2020, Toney scored 12 goals and gave five assists in 32 Premier League starts for the Bees last season.

The striker scored 33 goals and gave 10 assists in 47 Championship starts for Brentford in 2020-21.
