Jesse Marsch spoke after Leeds United’s 6-2 win over Cagliari – as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post – as saying that Leeds will look to bring in some new signings this week ahead of their opener against Wolves.

Leeds eased to victory in front of their own supporters on Sunday evening, as they played out their final pre-season friendly. Spain international Rodrigo got a hat-trick, Patrick Bamford scored twice and Robin Koch netted a header.

A convincing win and an exciting one, that underlined Marsch’s system. Leeds were excellent going forward but vulnerable on the counter, which saw Cagliari score twice. Leeds are still active in the transfer market.

Fans can expect a striker, a left-back and perhaps a back-up goalkeeper in the next few weeks. Marsch was asked about incoming signings this week, and says there will be movement this week – ahead of Wolves on Saturday.

“We want to make some more additions and we have targets. We wanted this last week to evaluate things and then to be prudent on our future decisions. Hopefully this week we’ll make some final decisions and make some final moves.”

Marsch: Leeds will look to bring in new signings this week

While Leeds were excellent on Sunday, it is clear that there are still areas of the squad that require strengthening. Pascal Struijk was good at left-back, earning an 8/10, but he is hardly the long-term answer at left-back.

Leeds need a proper left-back, and ultimately, Struijk looks like a centre-back playing out of position. Marsch is also keen on a striker despite having Joe Gelhardt and Bamford. A more-experienced goalkeeper is also important.

So, Leeds fans can expect, and should expect, three more signings before the close of play in a month’s time.
