Jesse Marsch has told BBC Sport’s live coverage of Leeds United’s draw with Everton that there could still be more incomings at Elland Road before Thursday’s deadline – opening the door to a possible addition in the next two days.
Leeds nabbed an eighth point in their fifth Premier League match of the season – but it could have been more. The Whites cancelled out Anthony Gordon’s opener through Luis Sinisterra, but had plenty of chances to win the game.
Positives, mixed with frustration, if you are from a Leeds persuasion. What is worrying for Leeds and the club’s fans, is that Rodrigo went off in the first half with a dislocated shoulder. The club are still without a fit, recognised left-back.
Phil Hay said earlier this week that Leeds will only sign a new player if Dan James leaves. Everton and Tottenham want the Welsh attacker. But Marsch has opened the door to a possible arrival before the end of the transfer window.

“Let’s see,” Marsch said, when asked if there will be any new signings. “It’s down to the wire here. There may be some opportunities for us and we are trying to survey and evaluate what is out there. Let’s see what happens.”

Leeds desperately need another body in the final third. Joe Gelhardt replaced Rodrigo, but he is still somewhat of a rookie. He is young, and the Whites cannot rely their goals to come from the England Under-21 international.
Patrick Bamford did come off the bench after another injury, but like Gelhardt, he cannot be relied upon. He has spent the last 12 months in and out of the treatment room, suffering long-term hamstring and ankle issues in that time.
Rodrigo has made a superb start. Four Premier League goals to his name already. But he could be sidelined for some time, depending on the severity of his dislocated shoulder. Leeds need a striker. Rodrigo’s injury might tempt them.
