Roy Keane has suggested on The Overlap that Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard should join West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

The United legend does not think that Lingard would be able to take the Red Devils to titles and major trophies.

Keane believes that a club like West Ham would suit the 28-year-old, who can also play as a winger.

The England international actually spent the second half of last season on loan at the Hammers from United.

Sky Sports reported in July that West Ham are keen on re-signing Lingard, who earns £110,000 per week as salary at the Red Devils, according to The Sun.

What Roy Keane said

Keane said on The Overlap: “Jesse Lingard, the players like that in the background, they’re going to have to shift them on.

“I don’t think (he has done enough to stay). I don’t think Jesse Lingard is going to get Man United back challenging for titles.

“I think he did well at West Ham and maybe that type of club is a good club for him.”

Back to West Ham United?

Lingard has done well for United in patches, but the 28-year-old has not done consistently well.

The Red Devils are very good and strong in attack, and it would be tough for Lingard to play week in and week out.

A move to West Ham would make sense.

The 28-year-old was superb for the Hammers during his loan spell last season and showed what he is capable of when he is given an extended run in the team.

The attacking midfielder scored nine goals and gave four assists in 16 Premier League appearances for the Hammers.
