Should Newcastle United consider the Stoke City loanee this summer?

Jese (L) of Stoke City celebrates with team mate Saido Berahino after scoring the winning goal during the Premier League match between Stoke City and Arsenal at Bet365 Stadium on August 19,...

With Stoke City looking increasingly like a future Championship team, it seems unlikely that Jese will be signed on a permanent basis.

The Spanish winger joined Stoke on loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer but he is unlikely to be joining on a long-term basis even if the Potters – three points adrift of safety with three games to go – stay in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has been exiled by manager Paul Lambert and the Scot won’t bring him back before the end of the season, meaning that the former Real Madrid prospect has more than likely already played his last game for City.

One man who could and should be interested in signing him this summer is Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez.

Rafael Benitez Manager

It just so happens that Newcastle could probably do with a left-sided attacker this summer. Christian Atsu has been alright since joining from Chelsea last summer, while Jacob Murphy has struggled following his £12 million move from Norwich City.

Jese joined the French side in a £25 million deal back in 2016 but if he had a long-term future in Paris then he probably would not have been allowed to join Mark Hughes’s Stoke.

The Newcastle ace is an excellent man-manager, however, and he could be able to get the best out of a player that he knows on a personal and footballing level.
