Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with moves for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Wilfried Zaha.

Jermaine Jenas has told 90 Min that he wanted Wilfried Zaha to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but suggested the time wasn’t right to sign Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.
Spurs are the only Premier League club in 15 years of the summer transfer window to fail to sign anyone during the off-season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side were heavily linked with Zaha and the Aston Villa star throughout, but neither wound up joining the North London giants.
Zaha has since signed a £130,000 per week contract extension at Crystal Palace [The Daily Mail] and Grealish is impressing for Villa in the Championship at the moment.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was only offering around £25 million when Aston Villa reportedly wanted at least £35 million [The Standard].
However, Jenas, a former midfielder in the same mould as the 22-year-old, feels that he wouldn’t have played often in Pochettino’s first XI if he joined, but admits he wanted Zaha.
He told 90 Min: “Zaha, I’ll be honest, was the only one [of Spurs’ targets] I thought ‘Hmm, that interests me’.
“I think Grealish is a very good footballer but you’ve already got Lucas Moura and Lamela on the bench, so is he going to get rid of those two?”
