Jermaine Jenas has said on BT Sports that he fancies Tottenham Hotspur to edge out Juventus in the last 16 of the Champions League next year.
Tottenham’s reward for topping a group consisting of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund was not all that kind as Mauricio Pochettino’s side found themselves paired with Max Allegri’s Italian champions.
The North Londoners comfortably dispatched Real and Dortmund in Group H but the pressure of knockout football is likely to make their two-legged affair with Juve slightly harder.
Nevertheless, former Spurs midfielder is confident that his old side can eliminate the Bianconeri.
Asked on BT Sports who he expects to win, Jenas said: “I fancy Spurs.
“It could have been a lot easier but at the same time, I’m confident that they can get a good result in this fixture.”
Pochettino’s troops travel to Turin for the first leg on February 13, before then hosting Juventus – who have reached two of the last three finals – at Wembley on March 7.
Beating Allegri’s men would be a huge boost of self confidence ahead of negotiating future ties.
