Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to end Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season on Sunday at Anfield.
Jermaine Jenas has claimed that Liverpool defender Andy Robertson will not enjoy playing against Tottenham’s Erik Lamela on Sunday when the two teams meet at Anfield.
The former Spurs midfielder thinks that Lamela has a bit of nastiness to his game and Robertson will not like the idea of him cutting onto the Scotsman’s ‘weaker foot’.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have the chance to end Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season and they will be hoping to feed off their midweek thrashing of Red Star in the Champions League.
Ahead of that game, Jenas stated that there is a bit of a ‘love-hate’ relationship with Lamela, but he backed him to cause Liverpool problems at Anfield.
“You have this kind of love-hate relationship with Lamela,” said Jenas as posted by Matches Analysis. “Does he do it enough is the question?
“If you actually break him down in regards to his attributes and physicality. He’s quick. He’s strong and he’s very good on the ball. And he’s actually a bit nasty.
“He’s not a player that I think Robertson will enjoy playing against because I think he’ll come onto Robertson’s weaker foot. It’s okay having hat personnel, but it’s having that bravery.”
Lamela was on the scoresheet in midweek as Spurs put five past Red Star in the Champions League, with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son netting a brace each during the game.
Given the problems surrounding Christian Eriksen this season, Lamela has started a lot more games and has been a strong performer for the club at times.
Spurs fans will be hoping he steps up on the big stage on Sunday because a positive result against the Premier League leaders will only lift the spirits around the club even further.
