Tottenham Hotspur lost for the first time this season in their matcha against Watford yesterday.

Tottenham struggled against Watford at Vicarage Road, and despite having a lead in the contest, they threw away the three points.
Spurs provided Watford with a route back into the match through some poor defending, and Javi Gracia’s side gratefully accepted their opportunity to take the three points.
Tottenham had led when Abdoulaye Doucoure deflected a Lucas Moura cross into his own net, but Watford hit back through two goals from set pieces.
And Jenas said: “The big problem I have at the moment, after they beat United there was a lot of talk about them contending for the title. But I’ve not watched Spurs play poorly and win a game.
“There has been too many moments, the semi-final against Chelsea, they didn’t manage to dig in. The 10 minutes against Juventus. That’s exactly what happened today. Watford sensed something today that made them think they could get amongst them. They need to change that.”

Yesterday, Tottenham’s cause may have been helped if Mauricio Pochettino had selected Eric Dier to start.
Dier was surprisingly omitted from Spurs’ side, and his absence was felt.
Mousa Dembele looked slow in the heart of midfield, and Tottenham’s defence was not offered its usual level of protection.
It was Dembele who gave away both of the set pieces which led to Watford’s goals, and if Dier had been selected to start in Spurs’ midfield, the outcome of the match may well have been different.
