The 30-year-old central defender started the North London derby and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Spurs won 2-0.

Former Tottenham midfielder Jenas was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of Vertonghen.

Vertonghen is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and is a key figure in the current Spurs team.
The Belgium international joined Tottenham from Dutch giants Ajax in the summer of 2012 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £9.5 million.
Tottenham are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 77 points from 34 matches, four points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.
