The Tottenham Hotspur star has been linked with an exit from the club this summer.

Jermaine Jenas suggested that Tottenham should not consider selling Christian Eriksen for a penny less than £50 million, when speaking exclusively to BBC Sport.

The Dane’s contract with Spurs is set to expire in the summer of 2020, so Daniel Levy would surely prefer to sell him before the end of this month, rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

Eriksen’s importance to Tottenham was underlined when he came on as a second-half substitute against Aston Villa on Saturday, and proceeded to change the game in the home side’s favour.

Spurs will be in an awkward position if they receive a substantial bid for his services before the end of the month, however.

And Jenas suggested that Tottenham shouldn’t listen to offers below £50 million for the 27-year-old, when speaking exclusively to BBC Sport:

“If Tottenham are offered anything less than £50m for Christian Eriksen this month, then they should keep him – even if it means he leaves for nothing next summer.”

There are still two weeks remaining until the European transfer window slams shut, but Tottenham have not given up hope of tying Eriksen down to a new deal, according to the Daily Mail.

And Spurs really will be a major force, if they manage to convince the Dane to remain in north London for the foreseeable future.
