The former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder has cast his eye on the two Premier League clubs.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United midfielder Jermaine Jenas is impressed with both sides’ transfer windows for very different reasons.

Indeed, according to Jenas, Tottenham have plenty of strength in depth and have therefore done the right thing not adding in January.

Spurs have offloaded a couple of players – some on loan and some on permanent deals – and the BBC pundit believes that is a sign of progress.

Meanwhile, Jenas is also pleased with Newcastle’s ‘brilliant’ business and feels one of Tottenham’s sales has also worked well here.

The Magpies’ signing of Andros Townsend from Spurs has left the pundit ‘very pleased’ and he is encouraged by how Newcastle have approached the window.

It remains to be seen who will be happier come the end of the season. If Newcastle stay up, their window can already be considered a success.

If Tottenham make the top four, their decision not to strengthen too much will also be looked back upon with a smile or two.
