Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport, which was broadcast on 20th October, that he was screaming at Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen during the first half.

Klassen put in a woeful performance for Everton last night, despite being selected to start against Lyon.

The Dutch midfielder’s struggles continued, as Everton slipped to a 2-1 defeat.

Klaassen was actually withdrawn at half-time in the contest, and he wasted a great opportunity in the opening 45 minutes.

The former Ajax man was bearing down on goal, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of him, but he ended up shooting tamely at the Lyon goal.

And Jenas said: “I expected so much more from him in that situation [the big chance in the first half]. Give me more! I was there screaming that I needed more from him.”

Klaassen is already facing big questions over whether he is good enough to make any sort of impact at Everton.

The 24-year-old was a big money signing in the summer, but he has failed to impress so far.

Koeman has publicly backed Klaassen, but if his struggles continue it remains to be seen just how long the Dutch manager’s patience will last.
