Jermaine Jenas reacts on Twitter to Everton’s £45m Sigurdsson deal, predicts next move

Everton are set to finally sign Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City.

Everton are closing in on a move for Gylfi Sigurdsson with The Guardian reporting a fee of £45 million has been agreed with Swansea City for the midfielder.

Sigurdsson is set to undergo a medical at Everton today before finalising the transfer, bringing to an end one of the summer’s longest running transfer sagas.

The Iceland international was key in helping Swansea avoid relegation last season and now will have a chance to play in the Europa League with Everton.

Former Premier League midfielder Jermaine Jenas reacted on Twitter to the developments, and believes Ross Barkley’s exit from Goodison Park will now be accelerated.

Barkley has made clear he wishes to leave Everton by refusing to sign a new contract, but his own situation has been complicated by injury.

Barkley suffered a groin injury before then another hamstring problem, but Jenas does not believe it will prevent his departure from Merseyside.

Tottenham Hotspur are the club most strongly linked to Barkley but their recent interest in Celta Vigo midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop could see Barkley have to work out a move elsewhere, SkySports report.
