The Tottenham Hotspur boss has made some strange remarks this season, according to Jenas.

Ex Newcastle player Jermain Jenas during The FA Cup Fourth Round between Chelsea and Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on January 28, 2018, in London, England.

Jermaine Jenas suggested that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino sometimes comes out with some odd comments, when speaking exclusively to Goal.

The Argentine has worked wonders since taking over at Spurs in the summer of 2014, but he is still yet to guide his side to a major trophy.

Tottenham have undoubtedly made real progress over the last five years, and they are in a good position from which to qualify for the Champions League for the fourth consecutive season.

They also have a Champions League quarter-final clash with Manchester City to look forward to tonight, and on their day, they can beat anyone.

With someone like Pochettino at the helm, Spurs are in a great place to continue their progression over the next few years, but Jenas highlighted a few things that the Argentine has said that he found to be rather odd, when speaking exclusively to Goal:

Jermaine Jenas arrives at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards at SSE Arena on October 21, 2018 in London, England.

“People are asking whether those comments mean he wants to be there for 10 years to make it matter or is he saying he doesn’t want to wait that long to win something. If you go over some of Mauricio’s comments over the last year or so, you’ll find some odd ones in there.”

Jenas went on to say:

The message he gave to his players ahead of their game at Burnley a few weeks back was this is a cup final. Pochettino wanted his players to realise how high the stakes were. It didn’t work because they lost 2-1 at Turf Moor and you could see how much it got to him.”

Despite all the fine work that Pochettino has done at Tottenham, there will come a time when his team need to start wining things if he is to be considered a truly great manager.

And whether this season’s Champions League will come too soon for them remains to be seen.
