Harry Kane rescued Tottenham Hotspur during their Premier League clash against Southampton on Saturday.
BBC Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas thinks Harry Kane may have just put in his best performance of the season as Tottenham recorded a 2-1 win over Southampton.
Just before the half-time break, Kane scored what turned out to be the winning goal, with his team down to 10-men following Serge Aurier’s two yellows.
Kane hasn’t been at his absolute best this season, but nor have Spurs, who have produced a number of indifferent performances both in the league, EFL Cup and the Champions League.
Speaking to Match of the Day on BBC One (28/09/2019 10:30 pm), Jenas was full of praise for England captain Kane and his performance when Spurs needed it most.
“I have to say, this is one of the best performances I have seen from Harry Kane this season,” Jenas told MOTD. “He almost seemed back to his best.
“He was fighting. He was running, along with Son and Eriksen, who played a huge part in his goal. That was a big, big moment because the stadium was so quiet, at that point and that come them back into it.”
If Kane has just produced his best game this season then he has timed it in a perfect fashion because Spurs will be playing against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
If they are to get a positive result from that game then they need their main man up top to be at this best because he has proven before what he is capable of.
Not only that, three points against the German giants will lift the mood around Tottenham even further because the confidence has been drained at the club in recent weeks.
