Spurs face Arsenal in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
Jermaine Jenas was asked by Playmaker FC to name five Arsenal players he would have at Tottenham, and he picked some surprising names ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash.
Amid links to Manchester United since Jose Mourinho’s sacking, Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to finally add a trophy to his time in north London and a win over Arsenal could give Spurs the chance of doing that.
Spurs suffered a 4-2 defeat to Unai Emery’s men in the Premier League version of the fixture earlier this month, and they will be out for revenge to book their place in the last four.
Former Spurs midfielder Jenas was asked if he had to take five Arsenal players to Spurs, which ones would he pick. He chose Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Lucas Torreira.
“The only player out of Arsenal’s side that I would really want in the Tottenham team is Aubameyang,” Jenas said. “But I still don’t know where I would have him.
“But if I had to pick five, I would take Torreira, I would take Bellerin, I would take Monreal and I would take Rob Holding. For the first time ever, though, you wouldn’t swap any Arsenal players for Tottenham players.”
Aubameyang has been lethal in front of goal, while new signing Torreira continues to impress. But Bellerin has struggled to recapture his best form. Monreal has managed only nine Premier League appearances this season.
Arsenal come into the game having lost their 22-match unbeaten streak in all competitions to Southampton on Sunday afternoon, with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side earning an excellent 3-2 win on the south coast.
Spurs will be looking to take advantage of that, though they are expected to make changes. Pochettino has already confirmed Paulo Gazzaniga will be starting in goal ahead of Hugo Lloris.
