Right-back Hutton has agreed a new contract with Villa.

Former Aston Villa midfielder Jermaine Jenas has predicted that Alan Hutton could become the club’s new captain on Instagram after the right-back agreed a new contract with the Championship giants.
Hutton, 33, was out of contract at Villa until Steve Bruce’s side decided to offer the Scottish defender a new contract until the end of next season – despite the club’s ongoing financial struggles.

Jenas played alongside Hutton during the latter’s three-year stay at Tottenham Hotspur between 2008 and 2011, before rejoining Hutton at Villa for a loan spell in 2011.
Hutton posted on Instagram to share his delight at signing a new deal at Villa that will see him remain with the Midlands outfit until the end of the 2018-19 season, and Jenas reacted by predicting the club’s captaincy could be in the offing.

Hutton has earned a new deal at Villa after starring on the left side of defence towards the end of the season, replacing Wales international Neil Taylor at left-back.
He will now be looking to help Bruce’s side achieve a similar position in the top six of the Championship next season, as Villa look to gain promotion back to the Premier League at the third time of asking.
