Tottenham Hotspur secured top spot in their Champions League group as they beat Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport’s live post-match coverage of Tottenham’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund (broadcast on 21st November 2017 from 19:00) that he thought that Son Heung-min was brilliant as Spurs secured a 2-1 win in Germany.

Tottenham were already guaranteed a place in the knockout stages of the competition, having won three and drawn one of their opening four games in what appeared to be a group of death – and would have known that victory would have wrapped up top spot.

And despite going behind in the Westfalenstadion, the Premier League side did pick up the three points they needed as Harry Kane found the equaliser before Son scored the winner with a stunning finish 14 minutes from time. And after the game, Jenas suggested that the South Korean scoring the deciding goal was fitting given his performance throughout the evening.

“I thought Son was massively influential all night with his runs in behind, his link-up play. I thought he had a really good game and he deserved his goal,” he told BT Sport’s live post-match coverage of Tottenham’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund (broadcast on 21st November 2017 from 19:00).

Tottenham Hotspur's Argentinian head coach Mauricio Pochettino gestures from the sidelines during the UEFA Champions League Group H football match BVB Borussia Dortmund v Tottenham Hotspur...

“He’s so clinical in these situations. It’s a lovely little bit of movement from him, he just drifts off, gets a yard of space and then he just guides it right into that top corner.

“It was a fitting end I thought to his evening. Like I said, I thought he was brilliant.”

While Dortmund have not been at their best this season, there are surely few trips in Europe more daunting than a game against the Bundesliga giants, so for Tottenham, a win on Tuesday was arguably the perfect response after their disappointment in the North London derby at the weekend.

And Pochettino will be hoping that his side not only get a boost in confidence from the fact that they won the game – and came from behind to do so – but also gain some additional belief from wrapping up top spot with a game to go.
