Tottenham Hotspur sensation Dele Alli has missed out on being nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award.

Alli is instead in the running for the young player the year award for the second year in a row, and is the hot favourite to win it.

The six players nominated are Chelsea duo Ngolo Kante, Eden Hazard, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Manchester United ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Former Spurs star Jermaine Jenas hit out on Twitter, admitting he could not believe Alli had missed out on being in the final six.

Alli has scored 16 Premier League goals this season, just two fewer than Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez who has faded badly over the past few months.

If Alli had been nominated it would have been deserved, but the England international will have to wait another year at least.

From Tottenham’s perspective it is not a bad thing that he doesn’t achieve all his individual goals early on, and keeps motivated and hungry to go one better the following season.
