Jermaine Jenas has a theory behind what Tottenham Hotspur lack

Tottenham Hotspur could not beat West Bromwich Albion at Wembley yesterday.

Jermaine Jenas has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on BBC One on 25th November, that Tottenham Hotspur lack players which can take opposition teams on.

Spurs possess a great amount of creative influences, but the strengths of the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli do not lie in their dribbling skill.

And Jenas feels that adding a trickster to Spurs’ team could be a difference maker, as Danny Rose is the only player in their current squad willing to take players on.

When asked by Gary Lineker what Spurs lacked, Jenas said: “Players that can go by people. [Kyle] Walker [who was sold to Manchester City] went by people, and Rose goes by people, but they need people in the middle of the park [who do it too].”

Jenas’ comments came after Spurs drew 1-1 with West Bromwich Albion at Wembley.

Tottenham have been guilty of dropping points to struggling sides at home far too regularly already this season, and their draw with West Brom has already caused Mauricio Pochettino to write off his side’s title chances.

Tottenham are 10 points behind Manchester City at this early stage of the season, and that gap appears to be unassailable already.

Things could actually have been worse for Spurs against the Baggies, after Salomon Rondon gave the visitors a shock lead, but the ever reliable Harry Kane put the ball in the back of the net to ensure that Spurs did at least avoid defeat.
