Tottenham Hotspur started Harry Winks in their Champions League match against CSKA Moscow yesterday.
Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against CSKA Moscow, which was broadcast on 8th December, that he believes Harry Winks has transformed into a first-team star at White Hart Lane.
Winks was used sparingly prior to this season, but Mauricio Pochettino has given the 20-year-old regular action this time around.
And Jenas believes that Winks is now a player who Pochettino feels he can trust, even in Spurs’ biggest games.
“He’s starting to turn into that player that Pochettino can rely on, rather than a youngster,” Jenas said. “He’ll only get better and better too, the more experience he gets.”
Winks started for Spurs against CSKA Moscow in their final Champions League group stage match yesterday evening.
The youngster once again impressed, as Spurs went on to claim a 3-1 win and ensure they finished in third place in their group.
Tottenham actually fell behind against the Russian side, but they quickly hit back with goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane and an own-goal from CKSA keeper Igor Akinfeev earning them the victory.
Tottenham will now play in the Europa League, and they will find out their first opponents in the knockout stage later this week.
