Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport that Everton boss Ronald Koeman can still turn things around at Goodison Park.

Koeman’s Everton side were beaten 2-1 by Lyon in Europa League action last night in front of their own supporters.

Koeman cut a frustrated figure throughout the contest, and was seen remonstrating with the referee at full time.

There is now serious pressure on the Dutch manager, with Everton’s poor form becoming a huge concern.

Koeman is the favourite with the bookies’ to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job.

But Jenas has backed the Everton boss, and believes the Goodison Park crowd can trust him.

“He’ll be questioning himself,” Jenas said. “I thought the team had a better balance to it, I thought it might be able to do something. But you can tell he’s a man under pressure.

“He’d have been desperate the get that win. I like Koeman, I really do. He was a little bit stubborn at the start of the season with his team selections, but I think he’s a man the Everton fans can look at and think he wants to get us back on track.”

Everton fought hard against Lyon, but it was still not enough to get them what would have been a vital victory.

The Toffees’ attention will now turn to domestic matters, with things not getting any easier for Koeman’s side.

Everton are next in action on Sunday, when they take on Arsenal, and another defeat could spell disaster for Koeman.
