Defensive errors contributed to their defeat, with Kieran Trippier’s sadly comical own goal following Pedro’s opener.
Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas pinned the blame for Pedro’s goal on defender Toby Alderweireld.
Alderweireld showed Pedro inside onto his favoured left-foot enabling him to score.
Jenas told BT Sport’s live post-game coverage: “I would expect Toby to know Pedro, what he is capable of. If you look at his face after he realises.”
Fellow pundit Rio Ferdinand agreed, adding: “The moment he allows Pedro to come back on his left foot, Toby is out the game.”
Alderweireld is regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and errors from him are rare.
The mistakes did cost Spurs, but at the other end their attack did not help, failing to land a shot on target against Chelsea.
