Martin Dubravka started in goal for Newcastle United as they were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

Jermaine Jenas believes Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka made a ‘big mistake’ during his side’s 1-0 defeat [BBC Sport] against Tottenham on Saturday at Wembley
The former Premier League midfielder did acknowledge that Dubravaka has been ‘one of’ Newcastle’s ‘best players’ during this campaign as his side look to avoid relegation.
Heung-min Son scored the only goal of the game seven minutes from time when his powerful shot managed to find its way underneath the 30-year-old keeper.
After the match, Jenas shared his honest comments on Dubravaka as he praised Son for a ‘lovely touch’ leading up to his goal as Mauricio Pochettino’s side moved up to second in the Premier League table.
“It’s a lovely touch [from Son],” Jenas told MOTD on BBC One on 02/02/2019. “Yes, the keeper should do better. Dubravka arguably one of Newcastle’s best players this season, really made a big mistake.”
Dubravka has been an ever-present for Rafa Benitez this season, playing 25 league matches and helping his side secure seven clean sheets along the way, according to transfermarkt.

Despite that loss, Benitez will perhaps be satisfied with his team’s recent performances and results following their win against champions Manchester City and fellow relegation rivals Cardiff prior to the Spurs defeat.
As a result of those recent matches, Newcastle are sitting 15th in the Premier League table, two points ahead of the Bluebirds, who occupy the final relegation spot.
The northeast outfit travel to high-flying Wolves for their next league encounter before hosting bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Town.
