Jermaine Jenas has told 90 Min that Mauricio Pochettino keeping Tottenham Hotspur’s best players together this summer is something that many frustrated fans have overlooked.

Pochettino and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy have been coming under fire as of late for failing to sign a single player during the summer transfer window.

Spurs are the only Premier League club since 2003 who did not sign anyone during the off-season.

That being said, the North Londoners signed a number of key personnel up to new contracts – including Harry Kane and Pochettino himself – and there were no big-name departures.

In addition to that, Kieran Trippier, a £3.5 million signing [The Daily Mail] from Burnley in 2015, had a superb World Cup with England in Russia, and Jenas reckons that the 27-year-old is returning to Tottenham a “completely different” prospect.

“What signings do, when they come into the dressing room, is you look at each other and think ‘we’ve got one here’ it creates excitement and you raise your game a little bit,” he told 90 Min.

“They haven’t had that, but what they do have, is what I would consider a completely different Kieran Trippier, a different version of Kieran Trippier, a Kieran Trippier who was a very good player.

“Whereas now you’ve got Kieran Trippier walking in the room, being talked about with Real Madrid and Barcelona, confident.”

Trippier was left out of the Spurs squad which beat Newcastle last week but it’ll be interesting to see if Pochettino brings him back in for today’s visit to Fulham.
