Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with taking Luke Shaw in exchange for Danny Rose.
Pundit Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport that Manchester United could give Luke Shaw another chance to shine – but the rumour of a swap deal for Danny Rose won’t go away.
Shaw, 22, starred with Southampton during the 2013-14 campaign, earning a move to Manchester United, where many backed him to be their first choice left back for the coming 10 to 15 years.
However, form and fitness have eluded Shaw since his move to Old Trafford, and he has barely featured under Jose Mourinho having failed to prove that he should be ahead of Ashley Young in the pecking order.

Mourinho gave Shaw a chance to shine in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and he turned in a strong performance against CSKA Moscow, leading many to believe that he could yet save his United career.
However, speculation persists over Shaw’s future, with The Mirror recently reporting that Mourinho is preparing a bid for Tottenham left back Danny Rose – and could include Shaw in the deal.
Rose, 27, has been unsettled with Tottenham in 2017, and given that Shaw thrived under Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton, some believe a part-exchange deal would be beneficial for all parties.
Now, former Spurs midfielder and current pundit Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport that he thinks Mourinho could yet give Shaw another chance to save his United career after his display against CSKA Moscow.
Jenas did though add that the rumours over a swap won’t go away given Rose’s unhappiness at Tottenham, and believes that Spurs may actually want Rose to leave in 2018 rather than fight to keep him.
“In a really weird way, I feel like it’s all down to Luke Shaw, and what he’s capable of doing and what he wants to do,” said Jenas. “If he genuinely has a feeling to stay at Manchester United, and wants to put in those types of performances, and show Mourinho that he is capable and is prepared to put in that type of work ethic, then I feel like Mourinho will give him another chance.”
“The problem is that when somebody like Danny Rose becomes available, and you know Mourinho is an admirer, and he kind of fits the bill and it all sits in quite nicely…that’s why that rumour won’t go away, especially given the fact that there has been so much unrest with Tottenham and Danny Rose. In the direction it’s heading in, it feels like it’s what Tottenham want, which – as a player – is a little bit disappointing, you almost want them to fight for you a little bit more. Danny will know the mistakes he’s made, he’s still one of the best left backs in Europe, but essentially, if it happens and he does leave, it will be because it’s what Tottenham want, not the other way around,” he added.
