Jermaine Jenas comments on Chris Coleman to Sunderland speculation

Ex-Wales head coach Chris Coleman is reportedly on Sunderland’s radar, and former Newcastle United star Jermaine Jenas gives his take.

Former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas has suggested to BBC Sport that Chris Coleman has got a huge job on his hands at Sunderland.

Coleman has resigned as the head coach of Wales and has been linked with the vacant managerial role at the Black Cats.

According to BBC Sport, the former Fulham and Real Sociedad manager will become the new Sunderland manager.

The 47-year-old was handed the Wales head coach’s role in 2012 and guided the team to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 in France.

Sunderland got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season and are struggling for survival in the Championship at the moment.

The Black Cats are at the foot of the league table at the moment with just 10 points from 16 matches.

Former Newcastle midfielder Jenas, who played for the Magpies from 2002 until 2005, has given his take on Coleman reportedly set to take the Sunderland managerial role.

Jenas told BBC Sport: “I think it’s great to see Chris Coleman come back into club football. The job at hand is absolutely humongous. It’s huge. That club, the problems run, I think, very deep.”
