Wolverhampton Wanderers will be hoping to secure a top-seven finish at the end of the Premier League season.
Jermaine Jenas has made it clear that Wolves have an ‘issue’ when it comes to playing teams in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Over the weekend, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side recorded a goalless draw against relegation-threatened Brighton, who had conceded seven goals in their last two matches.
Added with that, in their previous encounter, they fell to a deserved defeat at Southampton, who are also in the bottom half of the table.
Speaking to Match of the Day on BBC One (20/04/2019 at 11:15 pm), Jenas made it clear that Wolves need to address their problems against the so-called lesser sides.
“I think it’s not a coincidence now [Wolves’ record against top-six compared to bottom six],” Jenas told Match of the Day. “I think after the first couple of results, you kind of went well maybe they’ve had an off day or a lack of complacency.
“Well, actually there is an issue there I think for Nuno to sort out for next season. They need to figure out a way to break these teams down that camp in. Whether it’s a change in the system or what, they are losing out on too many points. That’s the next step for them.”
Since winning the Championship last season, Wolves have showcased their attacking power for large parts of this campaign, particularity against the top-six.
They have beaten the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham, but have found themselves struggling against those teams down the bottom.
Since Woves’ FA Cup semi-final defeat to Watford, they have been on a downward spiral and Nuno will be hoping his team can get back on track and secure a top-seven finish.
