Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will look to battle it out for the Champions League trophy at the start of next month.

Jermaine Jenas has claimed that the ‘last thing’ Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip will want to see against Tottenham Hotspur is Harry Kane coming on for the last half an hour in the Champions League final.

BBC Sport pundit Jenas has stated that he’ll start with Lucas Moura and Heung Min Son up top for Tottenham’s showdown against Liverpool in Madrid on June 1.

A lot has been made about whether Kane will start the match as the England striker battles to be fit for one of the biggest games of his career.

There is no doubt that Mauricio Pochettino has a big decision to make and Jenas has explained why he’d stick Kane on the bench against Liverpool.

“If I was Mauricio Pochettino, I would use Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min to run the centre-halves to death, pulling them into the channels as much as possible,” Jenas told the Daily Mail. “Those two have proved they can score goals and how dangerous they are.

“Then, as the hour approaches, you can deploy Kane, either replacing Moura or Son or, if you are chasing the game, you can leave them all on

“Do you get the better of Virgil van Dijk when you’re not 100 per cent? Wait until he fatigues a bit and even up the odds. In that final half-hour, the last thing Joel Matip and Van Dijk will want to see is a fresh Harry Kane coming on.”

(THE SUN OUT, THE SUN ON SUNDAY OUT) Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool is interviewed by the national media during the Liverpool warm weather training camp on May 22, 2019 in Marbella, Spain.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were in the final of the Champions League last season, but former Spurs man Gareth Bale inspired Real Madrid to victory on that night.

The team in white won on that night, and Spurs supporters will be hoping the same will happen on June 1 when thousands and thousands of fans from England descend into Spain’s capital.

Whatever happens on the night, a team from England will walk away from the Champions League trophy, with either Arsenal or Chelsea winning the Europa League.
