Tottenham Hotspur’s Mousa Dembele was left on the bench for Belgium yesterday.

Jermaine Jenas has expressed his disbelief that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele did not play for Belgium in their match against Italy yesterday.
Dembele was left on the bench, as Belgium put in a below-par performance against Antonio Conte’s men.
Italy ran out 2-0 winners in the contest, and Belgium never showed their undoubted quality.
Belgium boss Marc Wilmots opted to start Axel Witsel ahead of Dembele in defensive midfield, while Marouane Fellaini started in the number 10 role.
And Jenas could not believe that Dembele had been left out, given his impressive form for Spurs this term, suggesting that he has to start in Belgium’s next match.
Dembele was one of Tottenham’s most vital players last campaign, and his partnership with Eric Dier was rock solid.
Tottenham fell away at the end of the season when Dembele was not in the team, due to suspension.
Belgium’s remaining group matches at Euro 2016 are against Ireland and Sweden, and they will be under pressure to pick up positives results, if they are to make it through to the knockout stages.
