Jermaine Beckford has raved about Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier on Doing A Leeds podcast.

The former Leeds striker has been impressed by the performances of the 20-year-old goalkeeper for the Whites against Arsenal and Everton in their last two games.

The Frenchman kept clean sheets against the Gunners and the Toffees. While Leeds played out a goalless draw with Mikel Arteta’s side, they beat Everton 1-0.

Meslier conceded four goals in back-to-back league matches against Crystal Palace and Leicester City, but the 20-year-old has bounced back well.

Beckford said about Meslier on Doing A Leeds podcast: “The kid is incredible. Two clean sheets against Arsenal and Everton. That speaks volumes in itself.

“I was watching the game and there were a couple of moments, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and James had chances, but Meslier stood in their way. His distribution is one of the best in the Premier League.”

First-choice goalkeeper at Leeds United

Meslier has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at Leeds and is playing well at the moment.

It is not easy for a 20-year-old to play with style and calm for a big club such as Leeds, but the Frenchman is doing just that.

The youngster makes important saves, commands his penalty area well, and is very good with the ball at his feet.

Leeds are 12th in the Premier League table at the moment with 14 points from 10 matches and will face Chelsea in the league on Saturday evening.
